The menu, rich in cozy indulgences, invites you to unwind and savor every moment in an atmosphere designed for letting go and enjoying the finer things. Remember, history is made from little moments. This one, though, is just for your delectation.

Zoe’s Lounge welcomes you to Loosen the collar. You’re going to be here for a while. Step into a great room that feels like home, where you can sit back, indulge in the moment, and, as we like to say, don’t talk about the scandals... we drink to them.

The Roaring Lion

After nearly two years, Yousef Karsh’s iconic portrait of Winston Churchill, The Roaring Lion, has returned to its rightful home at Fairmont Château Laurier. Karsh, a hotel resident for 19 years, originally gifted the portrait to the hotel, cementing its place in its legacy.

Stolen during the pandemic, the original was unknowingly replaced with a replica until a hotel colleague discovered the theft in August 2022. In a remarkable turn of events, The Roaring Lion was recovered in Rome, with its official handover at the Canadian Embassy in September 2024.

Now displayed in Zoe’s Lounge, the portrait’s return has sparked fascination, adding to the extraordinary story behind its recovery. The Roaring Lion continues to captivate visitors, celebrating Karsh’s genius and the rare achievement of art recovery—only 3% of stolen artwork is ever returned.
